On Rosh Hashana: A New Year's Message from the JLC

L'Shana Yoter Tova - A Besserer Yohr
All of us at the Jewish Labor Committee wish you, your family, co-workers, friends and neighbors
a safe, good and sweet year - a more peaceful, more just, fairer and better year.
The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashana, is a time for self-examination and renewal. We are mindful that this year the holiday begins on September 11th, and aware of the turmoil, political unrest and uneasiness in the United States and many parts of the world. We know that the New Year starts as violence in the Middle East and elsewhere continues to take a heavy toll of death and suffering of many innocent victims.
And yet - it is traditional in Jewish communities around the world to say L'Shana Tova, in Hebrew, expressing the hope for a “Good New Year.” Or, as Yiddish-speakers would say, Gut Yohr.
This year, we again send our heartfelt hopes for a Shana Yoter Tova – a Shayne un Besserer Yohr – a brighter and better year ahead, one that will lessen political strife, and ease suffering and violence around the world.
